In our teams we learned and executed a process called feedback. I’m eager to share what I learned so I apologize if this blog is short, but nonetheless I have absolutely no doubt it is something that could be applicable to everyone. I must warn you, however not to take it out of context, and to see it through a lens that is scriptural. I can’t put all the biblical references for purpose in this blog because there would be waaaaayyyyy too many. So without further ado…

Feedback. We learned that it is / should be given and received in a position that is not from emotion or preference, and is best given with biblical context. We were taught how to execute this process of “feedback” in the morning of that day, and in our teams that evening, we gave each other such feedback.

Constructive, and affirmative feedback. The difference is pretty self explanatory: Affirmative feedback is affirmative and encourages growth in the same direction, while constructive feedback calls people higher where more directional growth is needed.

I realized how difficult this was for me because I never really payed attention to such qualities in people. It was shocking almost because I personally think I’m a great observer and quite frankly have been thinking I’ve been doing better, but as I said this “feedback”, specifically for others was challenging.

We as the church and as the body of christ must be self aware as a community of believers. We may be well discerned in hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit, but if we are ignorant or blind to the miss functional areas to be improved within the body itself, then we are as good as dead because there is no way we can grow. We can’t grow because we don’t know where we need to grow or what needs to be improved.

As I said, it is SO important that we as the hands and feet of Jesus are open and honest up front, so that we may process, act, and grow without further stumblings. So now I call you higher!

Is there anything that you’ve been (possibly willingly) ignorant of in the closets of your life that need to be dealt with? Cause maybe it’s time to sort through some of those things, be called higher, and call others higher as well.
